The Devin 'Ryan Special' was built as a Sports Racer in 1957 and actively club raced in eastern Canada and the U.S., from 1957 to 1963, when it was put into storage. Rediscovered, in a barn in 1992, the Ryan Special underwent a 3-year ground-up restoration. It has been actively vintage raced all over North America since, including four appearances at the Monterey Historic Races, where it was always a top finisher.
This car is very original and built on a rectangular steel tube frame. It has it's original 1957 Chevy 283 cu. in. engine block which was rebuilt in 1999. The engine has been overbored to 302 cu. in., has a steel crank, aluminum flywheel, TRW 12 to 1 pistons, ported and polished 'fuelie' heads, Isky solid lifter cam, Mallory dual-point distributor, headers and side exhaust system. The gearbox is a Borg-Waarner T-10 close-ratio aluminum case with steel cover and Hurst shifter, the clutch is a McLead single Disc. The induction system is an Offenhauser aluminum intake manifold with 650 CFM Holly center pivot 4-barrel carb. This rebuilt race engine has been fully blueprinted and balanced. The front and rear suspension are Jaguar MK I coil-over with 4-link trailing arms on the rear. Brakes are Girling disc front and rear. Dayton 72-spoke wire wheels and Dunlop racing tires round out this race-ready car, offered at . . . . $59,500 firm. Call 805-466-3893. |
